The Roseto Police are reminding residents to not give their personal information out over the phone. Yet another scam has surfaced in which callers pose as jury coordinators and attempt to obtain personal information such as social security numbers and dates of birth stating that an arrest warrant has been issued for the individual because they missed jury duty. IF YOU RECEIVE A PHONE CALL AND THE INDIVIDUAL IDENTIFIES THEMSELVES AS AN AT&T SERVICE TECH WHO IS CONDUCTING A TEST ON THE TELEPHONE LINE, HANG UP ON THEM. OTHERWISE, HE WILL ASK YOU TO DIAL "90" THEN THE POUND (#) SIGN, THEN ASK FOR YOU TO HANG UP, WHICH WILL COMPLETE THE TEST.
BY PUSHING 90# YOU GIVE FULL ACCESS TO YOUR TELEPHONE LINE, WHICH ENABLES THEM TO PLACE LONG DISTANCE CALLS TO YOUR HOME PHONE NUMBER.
POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR ANY WITNESS TO THOSE THAT ARE SPRAY PAINTING GANG TYPE TAGS ON BUILDINGS & VEHICLES, AND THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SWASTIKAS THAT HAVE BEEN TAGGED ON A COLUMBUS ST. BUILDING CAUSING OVER $12,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE.
