Child safety Neighborhood Helping Hand Program

The Helping Hand Safety House program is a joint effort of the Roseto Police Department and School District, designed to assist children who may be in need of assistance while out walking in their neighborhood. To designate a home as a Safety House for children, volunteers are asked to display the Helping Hand placard in their front window whenever they are home. During OfficerArchie's visits, local school children are instructed to seek out a marked Safety House whenever they are lost, injured, or approached by a stranger.

At the beginning of each school year,  parents of  students apply to serve as volunteers for this program. All applications are carefully screened by the Police Department through conducting complete criminal background checks of applicants and any other adults living at their address. Each school year, new Helping Hand placards will be issued, and the previous years cards of a different color are collected. Anyone interested in becoming a Helping Hand volunteer should either call the Crime Prevention Unit at 610-588-0390, or send an E-Mail message to: chief@rosetoboro.org
