On October 2nd at a council meeting Mrs. Courtney Meister was given a plaque and certificate of appreciation by the chief for her help in locating a missing 3 yr. old boy.  On Sept. 12 at about 10:30 am a call came into the 911 center stating that a survey crew was traveling on Rte. 191 and spotted a young boy walking along the highway with just green running shorts & sneakers.  Police were dispatched and did a foot search along the highway in case the boy fell over the embankment, and then up & down Rte. 191.  After about 45 minutes the center received a call from Ms. Meister who had seen the boy wandering in the road and had him come onto her property where she offered him some toys and something to drink.  While he was playing with her children, Courtney notified police and they picked him up.  The child, who at first when asked who he was, would only respond with the word "five" had traveled in the area of one half mile.  It was later found out he had slipped out of the house while his mother was sleeping and was unaware of his being gone until police awoke her.  The child later stated he was walking to see his dad, who lived in Stroudsburg, 10 miles to the North on Rte 191.  The child who could have been abducted or even worse, struck by a car was turned over to his father.  The mother was charged with child endangerment.
